Bethlehem has cast thousands of precast segments equating to miles of elevated surface. These segments typically require complex reinforcing, parabolic spans, and radius banked turns. A unique casting method called “match casting” is used to ensure proper fit. Match-casting uses a series of complex mold systems that allow the previous segments to be joined to the mold creating the edge casting surface of the consecutive unit. This ensures the keyways of each unit interlocks properly in the field and creates a cohesive elevated structure.
